Underclass Hero - Sum 41 (album review)
Released July 18th, 2007 in Japan, this is Sum 41's 5th studio album. All songs written by Deryck Whibley, except where noted.

- "Speak Of The Devil" - 3:58
- "Dear Father" - 3:52
- "Count Your Last Blessings" - 3:03
- "Ma Poubelle" (Deryck Whibley/Steve Jocz) - 0:55
- "March of the Dogs" - 3:09

- "King Of Contradiction" - 1:40
- "Best Of Me" - 4:25
- "Confusion And Frustration In Modern Times" - 3:46
- "So Long Goodbye" - 3:01
March of the Dogs – a typical Sum 41 song, politically influenced. “…the President is dead because I blew up his head…” or “ I don’t believe in the politics…” somewhere along that line. The riff around the end is pretty cool.
Confusion and Frustration in Modern Times- Mid-tempo song, it’s a reminiscence of older Sum 41 songs.
“Divided we stand, together we fall…there’s no God that can’t take us all… so just pray on your knees…just beg on your hands, there’s no belief in this promise land....there is no belief…” It’s pretty nice actually.
“Mum and Dad both in denial and only Chuck to take the blame”
“Sorry, Mum but I don’t miss you…”
“I’m just a kid with no ambition, never know what I’ll become…”
Song’s about reuniting with probably an enemy…or something like that.
And the lyrics! I gotta say that I understand these new ones more than their older ones. And the background vocals definitely improved a LOT! The choir like voices behind. Haha…way to go, guys! Even without the ex-guitarist…they still do great. I am pretty sure I’m buying this one. I’ve been waiting for it to be released, so yeah…I’m getting it after listening to it non-stop. They seem to be moving towards uh….The GREEN DAY’s sound. There are quite a few acoustic, slow tempo songs.
I can safely say that this album is BETTER than Minutes to Midnight by

TODAY - angela aki (album review)
Released September 19, 2007. Oricon Top 200 Weekly Peak: #1Her second album up to date, will this record surpass her first, Home? Let's review.
- Sakurairo (サクラ色; Sakura Colour)
- Again
- Today
- Ai no Uta (愛のうた; Song of Love)
- Tashika ni (たしかに; Surely)
- Silent Girl
- Moral no Soushiki (モラルの葬式; The Funeral of Morals)
- Otome Kokoro (乙女心; The Feelings of a Girl)
- One Melody
- Tomo no Shirushi (友のしるし; Symbol of a Friend)
- Kodoku no Kakera (孤独のカケラ; Fragments of Solitude)
- On & On
- Surrender
Track 1, Sakurairo, serves as her first single after the release of Home. slow in the beginning but picks up the tempo in the chorus...and the fact that she pays tribute to her song, Home in a small yet distinct part, makes this song pretty special.
Track 3, TODAY is another upbeat track, she starts singing Today...today...tu tu tu tu...i do love THAT really...accompanied with cheerful percussion. another very happy song. Lively and the use of guitar riffs( something is rather rare...) really brings life to this song.
track 4, Ai no Uta, begins slowly, but she sings with strength. It's rather mellow, laid-back and nice to listen to either when ur driving or just relaxing at home. I like the string arrangement and violins. Just maybe...it might be a little depressing to listen to after a while xD
Track 5, Tashika ni, another upbeat track. It's as if she's trying to bring joy into this album, really. And she makes sure you feel it and enjoy it. she sings happily and the la la la...really does make it nicer.
Track 6, Silent Girl, a slow, mellow and rather laid-back track. it might be lil bit boring as it goes on...T.Ttrack 7, Moral no Soushiki, frankly translated to Funeral of Moral in english. From the title, it does speak for itself, really. starts with these...funny weird drums beats and darkish low piano keys...as she sings in sync with them, and then picking up the beat, bursts into the chorus. the chorus, i'd say...fits the song perfectly. Before it dies down almost instantly into another awkward tune...and the insertion of these Latin phrase Pater Noster ( Father's Prayer)...is indeed very unique as she begins the chorus with it. ( nice to hear her sing something close of her origin you see)
It does not have a consistent flow, with different tempo ( slow to fast back to slow) and style as it goes on, BUT if you think that this is not a good track, you're dead wrong xD There's this screeching effects inserted as well. and it brings CHILLS to you...
This track is by far her most complex arrangement and one that she definitely can go around boasting about, really.Fans would do it, even if she doesn't. Very strong emotions are exerted from this track. I for one, am seriously deeply impressed with the unique sound.
track 8, Otome Kokoro, is a midtempo track as she sings, it just drones on and on...guitar riffs are present. her la la la...again is pretty in here. reminds me of Gavin DeGraw's style of music.
Track 10, Tomo no Shirushi, sounds nice with the bass behind the piano chords, slow, calming tune. it sounds jazzy in some ways. relaxing track.
Track 11, On & On, very upbeat song, with guitar riffs accompanying the quick high piano chords. Another joyful track, with her soulful vocals. as she sings..."dreams on & on..."
track 12, Kodoku no Kakera, a pretty song, again her beautiful voice drones with perfection. Very nice ballad.
track 13, last track, Surrender, is mellow, with violins, like i said, she ends with an ALL-English track. It's fresh to hear her sing in english once in while, a language she's fluent in. If you listen carefully to the lyrics, they're beautiful and meaningful, sung in 3rd person view. Pretty sad but amazing. great track to end of another awesome record.
OVERALL: 9/10
After Home, she again delivers a great record, TODAY, to continue her legacy for the love of music and piano. You can feel her sincerity throughout the album. I am truly impressed with her talents. TWO THUMBS- UP for her!
Love Diva - F.I.R (album review)
FIR's 4th studio album, Love Diva, released September 28, 2007.tracklist:
- 詠嘆曲 (Hymn)
- 第十行星 (Tenth Planet)
- 需要你的愛 (Need Your Love)
- 三個心願 (Three Wishes)
- Change
- 真愛地圖 (Map of True Love)
- 月牙灣 (Crescent Moon Bay)
- Forever Green
- Blue Doors Ahead
- 愛過 (Loved)
- 彩色拼圖 (Color Puzzle)
- 荼靡時代 (Tumi Age)
Track 1, Hymn apparently is the reverse of the track 'The Holy Land' from their Unlimited album. so it's distorted...a pretty interesting way to start off the record.
Track 2, Tenth Planet, is a fast catchy pop/rock tune, accompanied by rapping, and haunting vocals in the background, not bad really. Especially with the insertion of these random laughs and evil-ish snickers...like...Joker's laugh.
Track 3, Need Your Love, is a more melancholic track. Faye duets with Real for this one, but somehow, it's not THAT interesting, rather typical ballad. You won't be missing anything even if you skipped it.
Track 4, Three Wishes, again...a duet with Real. Poppish tune. a more uplifting track. but still, nothing much to boast about.
Track 5, Change, is Faye's composition. another uplifting tune. I suppose it's the chorus that might capture fans' heart, i mean, after all, it's one of her first try in composing.
Track 6, Map of True Love, is accompanied with few traditional instruments like flute and the like...a ballad. One that stands out more than the rest of the ballads so far...what i like is the guitar riffs somewhere in the middle, sorta brings more edge to it.
Track 7, Yue Ya Wan, is definitely the BEST track off the record, one of my personal favorite and a song that i just don't get tired of for a long time. Starts off with faye's somewhat angelic vocals, perhaps one of my fav too considering the fact that i actually dont find it great when it comes to her singing in other tracks, i mean, it's her nasal vocal for this track ONLY that i find just PERFECT. It's again, blended with traditional music. Which i again find really good, especially when FIR does this you kno...
Track 8, Forever Green is actually a cover of ZWEI's FAKE FACE (a japanese female duo band). Personally, i'd have preferred a more original track when it comes to studio albums, like it'd be nice to have them cover a song in maybe single's albums...but either way, this is a great way to promote a foreign track, maybe fans will search for the original singer and find that they liked it too...so after listening to this song, i like ZWEI's version. I've had that version before i heard FIR's...and it takes effort to surpass the original. FIR did good but just not enough. Especially when they lack the vocal strength, Faye's nasal weak vocals just ain't enough to fight with ZWEI's lead singer's head-strong vocals. And this is afterall a ROCK song...but one part where they composed WELL is right after second chorus, with addition of guitar riffs, something which FAKE FACE lacked.
Track 9, Blue Doors Ahead begins with saxaphone, gives this JAZZY feel...and indeed it is a jazz track and another Faye composition, singing in English. A laid-back track. Her English is not bad, but not the best either.
Track 10, Loved, features Faye's whistle vocal, something that she has used to the fullest in this track...the chorus, somehow is similar to Yuna Ito's Endless Story, just a fair bit of the beginning though...
Track 11, why does the clap...reminds me of avril's girlfriend...xD but anyway, this is a fast poppish track, uplifting, filled with cheery mood all over. Real sings again in here...
Track 12, last track off the record starts with Violin and then these...sort of medieval tunes...and Faye sings in a rather haunting style. A bit western-ish but then blended with Chinese Erhu...it's interesting somehow.
OVERALL: 7.5/10
Not too grand, yet it has its own special traits to put behind their other albums. Perhaps it'd take a much greater effort to surpass their own debut album, which to me is the best. but what i'm impressed is the fact that they don't follow typical Chinese styles...they experiment with different cultures across the globe. Thus, the FIR style.
I think that the public shouldn't compare them with Do As Infinity anymore especially with this album coz they clearly is different. Other than their band composition, and the similarities, but their style is just not the same.
HOME - Angela Aki (Review)
Although this album's kinda 'old' since it was released in 2006...BUT finally i just got the chance to give it a listen. here's the tracklist:1. Kiss Me Good-Bye
2. Love is Over Now
3.Kokoro no senshi
4.MUSIC
5. This Love
6.Onegai
7.Uchuu
8.Rain
9. Kiseki
10. Oogesa ni Aishiteru
11. Hallelujah
12. HOME
13.Your Love Song
I won't go to ALL the tracks...maybe just some that really stand out.
Well, she was first known, *i think* for being the singer for this Final Fantasy song, Kiss Me Goodbye. Much has been talked about this track, BUT i don't know...i just don't really FEEL for this track, you know...it's...nothing much astounding or anything like that...
Let's...fast forward to track 5, This Love, like i've mentioned, this track is the 3rd ending for Blood+. and it's one awesome track. starts off with this really great melody with the piano...and the chorus is undeniably strong.
track 6, Onegai begins with a pretty low piano chords, repeating itself as Angela sings in some sort of trance-like melody...this track's short and repetitive but it serves as some sort of prelude in the album, if u get what i mean.
track 7, Uchuu is one of those...more different among the rest as it begins with this rather hard and dark piano chords...like rockish tunes, but not TOO rock or anything, but the chorus changes into a more brighter mood. nice listen...xD
track 8, Rain is a rather cheery song. The chorus especially as she sings Rain, rain rain...this track is good to enjoy if you're having a low day...definitely will cheer you up.
track 9, Kiseki starts with a rather speedy piano chords, bright mood, and she sings happily in sync with the keys...another happy tune.
track 11, Hallelujah...definitely lives up to its title. It sorta brings hope and her voice in the chorus is awesome. xD they should insert this song in church services...
track 12, Home, perhaps her most famous single. nuff said really...if you havent heard of it, then you should. you're probably missing out on one of her greatest work.
track 13, Your Love Song, the ending track. It seems that she has this trend of ending off with an ALL english track in her album. Well, what can i say, this track is graceful, with just her vocals and piano. I have a feeling that this song is a cover though....or maybe i am wrong. but it's somehow familiar... well...have a listen to it and judge for urself. Worth listening xD
OVERALL: 9/10
Awesome debut album for Angela Aki, known for her strong passion in piano playing.
GUILTY (review) 2008
it's not even 2008 yet but the album's leaked i think...so anyway, just a short review.
but first the tracklist:
01. Mirror
02. (don't) Leave me alone
03. talkin' 2 myself
04. decision
05. GUILTY
06. fated
07. Together When...
08. Marionette -prelude-
09. Marionette
10. The Judgement Day
11. glitter
12. MY ALL
13. reBiRTH
14. untitled ~for her~
there are disappointingly....only like 4-5 worth listening to tracks out of what...14? yes.
I seriously don't quite get the direction she's trying to venture into this time...like it's not entirely ROCK or plain POP....it's not 100% pop/rock either...
and somehow in the end...it leaves not much impression, if you get what i mean.
other than her released singles like Together When..., talking to myself, fated...
the rest can't stand alone to make a memorable listen.
I have this feeling that Ayu is starting to lose her touch, she's still the BEST-selling female artist in Japan, with Koda Kumi trailing behind...and i'd say that is an obvious threat.
i hope Ayu can concentrate in a more specific trend rather than experimenting with a lot and in the end...losing its sense of appeal.
My fav album of hers, like i've said over and over again...is still MY STORY. now THAT is one GOOD album...every track worth listening to.
you know...maybe i should give Koda's album a listen...just to compare. coz for their albums...i realised they have similar pattern as in the covers...their HAIR...xD
so OVERALL rating: 6/10
Angela Aki
This Love (live)
this song serves as the third ending of Blood+ anime. and i actually didn't realise the existence of the song until i DL Blood+ OST...this song is the BEST ending of the anime...it's really GOOD!
I think i'm in Angela Aki phase atm...but seriously...she's not only good in playing piano for REAL but also has a GREAT voice....like it's almost perfect....
OMG....
Saya and Diva, they only lived for a few years as normal human beings...and then sleep again for 30 years before awakening again....THAT is just so sad...i mean, imagine all the things they'd have missed all those years! it's not juts 10 you know....it's THIRTY!
look at those eyes...of KAI...
i uh....cried during this scene...it's just toooooooo touching!
Blood+ FINAL FIGHT
Diva and Saya got their final fight...

you see...even though they were born from the same mother as twins...their blood will kill each other...
but apparently, Diva had no idea that her blood lost its effect due to giving birth to another twins, (future Queens that is) but depends on whether they're raised by bad or good guys...
and Saya meant to DIE TOGETHER with her...that's why they stabbed each other...but then, it didn't work. leaving her alive...final episode coming up....omg...i can't wait!
Solomon
i feel for HAJI...sigh
good news...xD
overall, i got myself a 3.94
for 6 subjects, 4 majors, 2 BM subjects (of which one is Kok)
i'm glad the fact that my majors are all A. my other two minors are well....A- which gave away all those points jeez...
but i'm happy either way. i didn't actually think that subjects like...Microbiology, Biodiversity, Cell Biology and Chemistry would give me As...coz...
like for Microbe...i seriously didn't study that first chapter where they talk about spontaneous generation...and about Louise Pasteur's experiments...and i actually crapped in the essay like telling a story...xD
it was hard...but ah...THANK GOD!
all my seniors said that we NEED to score in the first sem. and now i definitely believed them.
i'll do my best when i go back uni later.
well, i'll be taking Genetics and Molecular Biology and Chemistry II, i hope we can do it!
The Kingdom (review)
It starts of with this Western oil employees playing softball (i think) in a compound specially made for them in Saudi Arabia. and suddenly this rampage killing begins...with a suicide bomber disguised in the Saudi army uniform in the middle of the field. And then...during the cleaning process that night, another HUGE bomb went off. A well-planned bombing i would say.
So Agent Fleury ( Jamie Foxx) arranged 3 other FBI agents to go with him to hunt this "bad" guy down who killed these people and also one of their colleagues.
well....the DVD we have isn't THAT good coz there are lots of parts missing in the subs...especially when those Saudi people starts talking gibberish language i dont friggin understand...so i actually fast-forwarded those scenes....they're just talkings...and i have no interest when i dont friggin get what they talked about. so why waste time.
fast-forward to when they were attacked and one of the agents got caught and about to be murdered in a broadcasted manner....you know...all the shit they crap about reading from a paper with uh...their faces masked...
when this Agent Mayes (jennifer Garner) found their hiding spot and blew one of the guys head off. and shooting...shooting fighting...and stuffs...etc you name it.
So towards the end, they came across this family...with this old guy, at last they found the real bad guy.
But what got me to give my respect for this movie is the ENDING.
it's...somehow there, you know...right at the end it catches you off guard and i have to say...all i liked was the ending.
You see, when Agent Mayes starts sobbing upon hearing about their colleague's death, Agent Fleury whispered something to her. this was the beginning, and we, the audience were given suspense of not hearing what he said.
But in the end, we got to see that the bad guy, he whispered the SAME thing to his son when he was dying.
and that was..."we'll kill them all"
so it got me thinking...they're the SAME. and maybe we all are.
just who's more...and who's less...
like...we can't really blame the saudis...or those bad guys....oh sure they definitely have too much time to actually handmake all those bombs and whatever shit they do to hurt people...but it's the first instinct of REVENGE....you see...
so...now...i actually believed the FACT that WAR will never end. like ever. except if we humans are dead that is. maybe...in what...20-50 millions of years...and war will resume as it is.
but we're not perfect. does religion have anything to do here? i don't know. it's all human.
ah...lives taken away...new ones born. circle of life. that's how it is.
Rating: 6/10
like i said, i only liked the ending. i'd give the director thumbs up just for THAT ending.
haji is cute XDDDD
Kai
and he intends it that way, the fact that he tries hard to keep them all a family no matter what happens...
he is definitely hilarious sometimes but i kinda pity him coz the rest of the gang, always bullly him, leaving him behind, not letting him really participate, in fear of him doing things in a rushy way...and he does...not think twice sometimes.xD
look at his innocent FACE!
at last though, he's given trust to help...this scene is somehow funny in an awkward way.
Blood+ Episode 13
kiddy vampires...
Blood+ Saya
innocent looking Saya...who is not yet awakened.living normal life with her adopted family, whose father was lost in the battle with Chiropterans...
Awakened Saya...with RED BLOOD eyes...seriously, i'm in love with those eyes! they look stunning somehow...you know. xD
and this....this is Saya's twin sister, the Evil one. the one ignored, even from the Past.and she has this beautiful voice, and she sings...and so, her name's Diva.
they gave her Blue Eyes....umm....i prefer Red somehow.
Blood+
anyway...Haji, poor him, he lost his hand to Saya when she cut it off in the 19th century...(i only know this much for now...i don't really know the reason yet)
but as faithful as he is, he still serves for Saya. and guides her to fight Chiropterians (Bat-like monsters..that feed on blood)

and he plays Cello!!! how cute is that!
quote of the day 1
somehow when i was listening to it, the first time, it didn't exactly catch me yet....but when i
listened carefully again...i understand now why it's called Arithmetic.......it makes sense! xD
and in a meaningful way too!
I won't find what I am looking for
If I only "see" by keeping score
'Cos I know now you are so much more than arithmetic
'Cos if I add, if I subtract
If I give it all, try to take some back
I've forgotten the freedom that comes from the fact
That you are the sum
So you are the one
I want
becoz of inflammation, she stayed another night, which is 2night.
the way i'm typing is odd now...coz...i'm holding a pau in one hand and the other typing the words 1 by 1...
and apparently i'm watching this anime, Blood+...not gonna go into details what is it about, lazy bah....
but it's pretty good and enjoyable with suspense atm. and also...NTV7 is going cranky in their programmes....they're nuts.not gonna any further on that either now.
and i finished my season 3 and 4 of One Tree Hill....i shall go deeper on THAT tomorrow haha...it
s really hard typing like this. T.T
some food...they serve in taiwan
Naruwan...
a word in the song. it's just a character. nothing more.
the tour guide said so.
oh and the weather in Taipei and Taoyuan is kinda cold. It's like in Genting. around 16-20 degrees celcius.
it's not THAT cold IF the wind is not blowing.
but you see...the wind is ALWAYS blowing...and strong too.
so...it's colder than it's supposed to be. and my sweater isnt very enough, but it's ok. i like the cold. but not when in the morning you wake up and take a bath though, coz then...it's FREEZING.
T.T
and the fact that PEOPLE over there wore stuffs that are much much THICKER than us...that's ODD, you know...
but like...it's not very rasional too buy winter clothes when you dont get to use them that much anyway. especially here in our HOT country.
so yeah...just a bit on the weather.
ok just some infos on Youth Centres in taiwan..actually i dont know much but that they have quite a lot of these...Youth centres all around taiwan, from North to South, and mostly at high mountains, or hilly places, or like..tourist spots.
so basically, they are very well maintained and according to my sister, she read some infos, but i dont...too busy doing something else i guess...
they come pretty CHEAP. with good facilities. so....IF you want to go Taiwan, seriously, you can consider staying overnight or two days thingy at some Youth Centres.

i saw this that morning and snapped it.it's the sunrays....shining upon the mountains through the clouds....it looked very heavenly to me xD
this is at a Youth Centre. we stayed there one night and as u can see...it's up on the mountains, with great scenery xD
we're in some... elementary school, u know...some official visitings.
oh this...is just some random photo i took of the bike having these...gloves at the handles, since it's winter, i suppose their hands are cold.
me and mona lisa ^^
i wrote something...in the history museum or something like that, i dont know, all i remember was it being a very very cold day with the strong wind blowing outside.
some fujiki to grace the page ^^
anticipation? maybe...maybe not
the fact that i dont seem to be able to spend much time with my family and even friends that much ever since i'm over the other side of the country like what....9 months or 8 out of 12? it's not that hard to do the math there.
so whenever i come back, i just wanna lay back and enjoy the moment. you know...it's just good and nice to be with people you care and love. All the time there, i am always looking forward to the day i come back. it's like my goal somehow haha xD
well, i just hope we wont be freezing over there soon. . . i am definitely not a friend of cold weathers. no...not even close.
it'll be fun though, new experience. even if it's not SNOW..but it's nice either way.
started packing, not entirely done yet. and i sorta made up my mind...about something. will blog bout that soon. but for now...cheers to HOLIDAYS!
wanna see Avril strip?
it's nice tho when she's credited even tho she's got only like 3 minutes + in the WHOLE movie but it's cool, really...to have her in a real movie, not some cartoony ones...anymore and she did a GOOD job, at least in this short scene.
here's the rough idea of her character:
Avril is the girlfriend of the guy who is suspected to be a sexual offender. Richard Gere tells Her to get undressed to check if She has been beaten by him or not, and he notices Her broken tooth (you know, the famous "chipped" tooth they had stick to Her for the movie).
this movie's a thriller btw.and this clip, the ONLY clip available atm, is in German..so just have to bear with a foreign language. until we get English version.
my FAVOURITE SCENE has got to be where she starts unzipping her pants haha LOL...omg that's somehow hilarious...but the other fav part is HER STARE at Claire, right before she did that. look at her EYES...
Jack's Mannequin among others...
great selection of music from that one series alone. a lot of unknown bands and names...but they rock just the same.
and one of them is jack's Mannequin, then there are others...like Michelle Featherstone (not a band but still love the song Sunday) should try it out sometime. xD
Feeder's Tender...The Leaver's Dance by The Veils. i should uh...DL more haha xD on the move now...
