Finally, DAI's new comeback album, entitled Eternal Flame. It's nice to see they still go on playing the Shiritori game with their album titles. See, their last album was Need Your Love, ended with an 'E'...so it's only natural to begin their new one with that too.
I do admit however that I was slightly disappointed with the cover because this is the first time they're not on the cover at all! No trace! Just a torch in the middle of the desert?! It'd have been much better with that torch in the middle of Atlantic lol...
Anyways, I think it's rather symbolic though. Since this is the NEW DAI, becoz the founder of the band, Dai Nagao is apparently not an official member anymore. So it'll only be both Tomiko and Ryo now.
It's sad of course but i think i've gotten used to the absence of Dai Nagao since he'd always stayed behind the scene. So it won't be that much awkward whether or not he's around. BUT...i have to say, without him, the new sound of DAI is very much different.
And the album is prove to that. I'm not complaining. You know, I was skeptical that this new album after 3 years of hiatus will not be as good or somehow lost its special sound, but I was glad that I was wrong! I actually find it very refreshing! The sound really is different, well it's still pop/rockish stuffs like before but those really really catchy tunes were not around anymore. And somehow, I have no problem with it. I do look out for catchy melodies when i listen to song for the first time but when that is not found in this new album (except for few outstanding ones) I find that I can listen to them again and again without getting tired of it.
No doubt Dai, the person behind is no longer around, but i do believe Ryo and Ban chan will somehow manage the band by themselves. They're always done so. And I do believe that diehard fans of the older era DAI will miss the sound of Dai dearly. I for one do miss it but to tell you the truth, i find this album much better than their previous one, NYL.

Some good tracks are Eternal Flame, the opening track is 6 minutes long! It's a totally messy song and sounded like two songs are mixed together but I like it that way! The soft piano and the crazy loud guitar fitted so damn well! Oh and it's and all English track btw. Ban chan's english has improved lol...
Oh and we have other good ones like Nighter, Honoo, Kitakaze, Umareyukumonotachie, Saigo no GAME, actually most of them are above average. xDD
They also re-recorded their first single: Tangerine Dream as part of their 10th Anniversary. Sounds pretty old, don't they? lol...This version was much slower and accompanied with only piano/ acoustic guitar and of course the orchestra!

Now, I'm waiting for their concerts!
